It's morning. You wake up. Go to the bathroom. Not fully aware of what's happening you pick up your toothbrush and start brushing your teeth. In the middle of the process you decide to look up in the mirror to see how fabulous you look today... umm... almost fabulous. Oh, nice. Another flare up.
I still have not really figured out what causes my seborrheic dermatitis flare ups - they just come and go. What I am certain about is that you can not heal it from outside, but you can hide the symptoms. I know that steroid creams work wonders for this skin condition, but it is something I don't want to be put on my skin. I hadn't know what to do about it until I started experimenting with oils and discovered this blend.
This oil will not completely heal your dermatitis, it will just hide the redness and flakiness. It also needs to be reapplied every night.
This healing oil consists of 3 base oils and several essential oils,
First base oil
Very good for nourishing the skin as it absorbed by the skin faster than other oils. It has a wonderful healing effect on inflamed skin, acne, eczema and psoriasis. This is the one and only oil that is similar to our own skin oil - sebum.
Second base oil
Apricot Kernel Oil
Overall a good oil for all skin types. Highly nourishing. Blends well with all other oils and is a good base to dilute essential oils.
Third base oil
Carrot oil (Carrot extract in Sunflower Oil )
Very, very orange! Don't use much if you don't want to stain your skin! A highly nutritious oil, containts Vitamin A. Good oil for dermatitis, eczema and rashes. Revitalizing and toning.
ALTERNATIVES FOR SECOND AND THIRD BASE OIL
Neem oil
Tamanu oil
Evening primrose oil
Rosehip seed oil
I used ratio 1:1 for first and second base oil. I used a few drops of carrot seed oil, but you can adjust it by your own needs.
Essential oils
Lavender
Great for oily and acne prone skin. It is healing and calming - perfect for the redness and itchiness.
Palmarosa
Perfect for acne prone skin, dermatitis, skin infections, great oil for aging skin too!
These are the oils that I used, but if you don't have access to them , don't worry! You can experiment with other oils.
ALTERNATIVE ESSENTIAL OILS
Carrot seed
Chamomile
Geranium
Rosemary
Sage
Cedarwood
How to blend it
I used ratio 1:1 for first and second base oil. I used a few drops of carrot seed oil, but you can adjust it by your own needs.
If you're using 30 ml (1 oz) bottle like I did, then:
- Fill the bottle a little bit under the half with your first base oil
- Add second base oil so that the bottle is not fully complete
- Add a few drops of carrot oil
- Add 4-7 drops of essential oil. Do NOT use more (only when using a bigger amount of base oil)!
That's it! Quite easy, isn't it? Hope this oil helps you and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
